Do you smell that? Fall is in the air! Fall, the season between summer and winter is most people's favorite time of the year while other’s it’s not. Sarah Carway, a junior at Warwick Valley High School said, “Fall is my favorite season. The bad thing about it, is that it is the season where I get the worst allergies and get sick. The other bad thing about it, is that it is when summer is really over and school has officially begun.” People like the fall because of the weather and also how beautiful our town looks during the fall. With the leaves changing, along with the best place to go apple and pumpkin picking, Warwick is the best place to grow up in the fall.
Fall fashion is one of the most popular times to dress up besides holidays and Halloween. Hannah LaTorre, a sophomore at Warwick Valley High School said, “The amount of clothes I have for fall weather is crazy. I wear leggings with boots and sweaters almost everyday and cannot complain. I actually get sad when fall is over because that’s when winter starts.”
Other people such as junior Brendan Egan do not like the fall. He said, “I personally do not like the fall. It is way too cold and I get sick easily. I like the spring because it is always warm and I can have the windows down when I listen to music. I can only have the windows down in the fall on days that are really nice and there aren’t many. Also the traffic in the fall in Warwick is insane.”
Another thing about fall that makes people love it more is the sports season. Gene Decker, a 2017 graduate at Warwick Valley High School and the quarterback on the varsity football team said, “Playing football is definitely the number one reason why I love fall. I get so hyped on Friday’s that I can barely pay attention during school. I really like basketball as well as football but there’s just something about Friday night football games under the lights that makes me love the sport and season more.“
Although hanging out until late at night not worrying about what time you have to wake up the next morning for school during the summer is a plus, Friday night football games along with boys soccer, girls soccer, girls tennis, cross country, and volleyball games are the highlight of fall nights.
Mel Aparicio, a junior at Warwick Valley High School said, "I love fall because of the weather and the pretty different colors. The weather is not too hot or not too cold. I like how the weather is cool in the morning, gets warm during the day and gets cool at night. I love being able to look outside my window and see the leaves changing colors. I also love the fall because of Friday night football games. My favorite part is going out and supporting my friends on the field."
Will Brack, a senior at Warwick Valley High School and captain of the Varsity Soccer team said “Fall is my favorite season for many reasons. It just so happens that soccer is my favorite sport and it lands on my favorite season. Honestly, if it wasn’t for soccer I probably wouldn’t be as excited to go to school.”

It’s the beginning of another school year at Warwick Valley High School and with that is the return of all the things we love and look forward to, such as school clubs. School clubs are very valuable and can be very beneficial to students.
Many join clubs in the hopes to get into a better college and to better prepare for their future. It is said that students who are actively involved in high school, which oftentimes includes membership in a club, in most cases perform better in their classes while having an overall better experience.
Here at Warwick Valley High School we have an abundance of clubs that any student is able to join! For those who would enjoy more academically based clubs there are clubs such as the History club which is run by Mr. Mita and Mr. Fasolino, Mu Alpha Theta Math club which is advised by Mr. Mark and countless others!
Mrs. Brozycki- Smith is in charge of the Debate club here at Warwick Valley which is full of interesting, active debates. John Bolich, a freshman at Warwick Valley High School said “I like to negotiate and that is the one of the reasons I joined debate club. So far it has been a really good experience. It is also really beneficial to me as I'm starting off in Warwick Valley High School”. If you are interested in Debate Club you might also be intrigued by Mock Trial Club. Mock Trial Club is advised by Ms. Bugasch in room 216.
For those who are looking for a place to be more creative, artistic, and expressive instead of an academic based club you might want to focus more along the lines of the Drama Club directed by Mr. DiLeo, yearbook which is run by Mrs. McLoughlin, or Art club which is advised by Mrs. Spano. Drama club is a very popular club at WVHS having both fall and spring productions. In fact, they just recently announced that the fall production. It will be a revival of the classic Charlotte’s Web by E.B White! It is set to premiere Friday, November 13 at seven p.m and then be followed by another performance Saturday, November 14 at 1:00 & 7:00 p.m.
Yearbook is also a widely recognized club. Kesigh Deloatch, a junior who is a member of yearbook had a lot to say when asked why he joined and what is so great about it. “I love taking pictures that people can look back on and remember good times. In twenty years from now you can look back at all this memories you made and remember that high school was more than just a bunch of stress.”
There is even a Harry Potter club which is a new edition this year. With over 50 members and counting this club is on the rise. Christina Rivas, a sophomore said “I’ve been a fan of Harry Potter for so long. Now that we have a club I can be with people who have the same interest as me. I think it’s going to be so fun!.” However, remember that you are not just limited to these clubs as there are plenty more to choose from if you do not find one that catches your eye! Pictured are some great events going on through Mrs. Fogler’s Interact Club.
Overall, school clubs are a great way to make new friends, learn new things, or to pursue more of the things you love. Some say that clubs are unnecessary and take away focus from your school work. If you find the right club for you it can be the key to making your overall high school experience much, much better!
